William was born in 1894, and is recorded in the 1911 census living in East Haddon
with his parents, and working on a farm in Long Buckby.
He enlisted in the 4th Battalion, the Yorkshire Regiment (the Green Howards), and
went to fight in France.
He died of wounds on 15th April, 1918, aged 24, and was buried in the Anzac Cemetery
at Sailly-sur-Lys in the Pas de Calais, France, one of 320 WW1 dead.
He left behind his parents, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.
