HENRY REYNOLDS was born at Whilton Locks, but later lived at East Haddon Grange,
after he married an East Haddon girl.
In WW1 he showed remarkable courage, and despite being wounded led his men on to
success in battle.
He was awarded the Victoria Cross, and in 2017, to mark the 100th anniversary of
this award there will be commemorative celebrations at Whilton in September, where
a plaque given by the government will be unveiled. There will also be parallel activities
in East Haddon.
Anthea Hiscock from Whilton has researched the life of Henry Reynolds, and she is
publishing a biography. This is available to pre-order, and we will shortly circulate
an order form to EHHS members.
Anthea will be the speaker at our meeting in October.
